Turbo the ghost boy

*sigh* This looked better as a sketch, but now I have to use Gimp because I can't find the Corel Painter disk that came with my tablet, so please excuse the shitty coloring.

This silly little design is the result of weeks of research and page after page of sketchbook practice. I've never been happy with how I drew Turbo, so I decided to do an extensive session of breaking everything down and figuring out exactly what it was that I didn't like about my own style. I studied the shots of his 3D model in the film, his sprite in the film, the concept art of him in the Art of WiR book, and the works of many fan artists who I either know personally or stumbled across and found to be particularly appealing. That coupled with ideas about how I think he looks in my headcanon (Ghost Boy) and what exactly I would need him to do in terms of acting and emoting in the story led to...this thing.

I made him less (for lack of a better term) human-looking but still kept him humanoid, breaking him down into more basic shapes; I hoped that the look would suit the nature of the game he came from. Also, since he's younger in my hedacanon, I reduced the number of wrinkles but kept the most prominent ones around the eyes and corners of the mouth. Dark circles around eyes may look weird due to fail coloring, so apologies for that. He also has his little snub nose, and for some reason, I can't help but give him more bell bottom-ish pants and chunky little feet. Look, I have to make everything a little bit cute, okay?
